Quick Bio:

My art interests include photography, web design, and I also do some drawing and digital "painting" as well. As far as photography, I only shoot digital and my camera of choice is Canon.

I have over 10 years experience with Adobe Photoshop and web design. I'm also a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Currently, I am the Sr. Web Graphic Artist for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee; a position I have held for over 8 years.

When I'm not behind the camera or at the computer you'll find me reading, hiking or cleaning up cat puke around the house.

Favorite Quotes by Ansel Adams:

"There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept."

"There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer."

"You don't take a photograph, you make it."

About my photo sessions:

When photographing people, I keep the sessions as casual and relaxed as possible. Its important to me that the experience be fun for everyone involved.

For those who are camera-shy, I am very understanding and patient. Honestly, I am bit shy in front of the camera myself so I realize how uncomfortable it can be for you. I make certain I do everything I can to make our session relaxing and fun. And if you don't like forcing a smile, don't worry! I believe that smiling in photos is overrated. A person does not have to smile to make a great shot. Some of the best photos have serious or thoughtful expressions. To that end, I never push you to force a smile for the camera.

When planning for photos, here are a few things to think about that will help your portraits go smoothly:

The best time of day to schedule photos is in the two hours before sunset. That last hour of light is called the "golden hour" when sunlight is soft, directional and warm.

Clothes
Select clothes that are solid colors. Clothes with busy patterns often clash. If it is a group or family portrait, make sure everyone's clothing goes together. A traditional method to consider is having all participants dressed alike or in the same colors.
Be careful of overly trendy apparel that may not stand the test of time. You might want to try bringing several selections to change into.
Don't forget to about your selection of shoes and socks - some photos will probably include a full-body shot either standing or sitting.

Children
If possible, dress children in clothes that are not only comfortable for them but will be allowed to play in without concerns of getting dirty.
For young children, don't forget to bring a small selection of their favorite toys or stuffed animals.

Bring a comb, brush, make-up or any other personal necessities you might feel you need.

Give yourself plenty of time both before and during the session. Feeling rushed is the fastest way to becoming stressed and showing it in your photos.

Feel free to bring any special items or props you want included in your photos. Its a great way to show off your hobbies and can add a lot of interest to a picture. For bands and musicians, your instrument can be an important part of the shoot but be sure to bring along the case for it so you have a place for it when it’s not part of the photos.

If you are having your pet join you in some photos, be sure to bring someone with you to care for the animal when you're being photographed alone.

Get a good night's sleep before the shoot, this will help you be more relaxed and energetic.
